FAMILY NEWS UP-DATE

Gwen was discharged from hospital last Thursday.
I got a message left on my answering machine asking if I could collect her at 3.00pm. I had to ring the district nurse to come and get the Air bed ready for Gwen coming home. At the hospital I couldn't find anyone to give me any information about why Gwen was being discharged, so I looked in the treatment book and all the final note said was:- At the moment there is nothing we can do for Gwen that couldn't be done better at home with the help of her family doctor and the district nurses. Gwen now has a cannula in to help with her incontinence problem. Since then it has been a full time job looking after Gwens needs as she can do very little to help herself. Wendy came to help me re-organise the bedrooms and will come and help whenever she can.Our doctor is trying to arrange for Gwen to see a doctor who specialises in General Medicine for the elderly to get all her problems under one care plan. The district nurses here are exelent providing everything Gwen needs for her treatment and comfort, but most of all they are kind and considerate.
